01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Set in a residential corner of Fujimicho, Itabashi, Izakaya Hinode offers thoughtfully crafted dishes and drinks in an unpretentious space with subdued lighting. With comfortable bar-like counter seating alongside tables, it accommodates solo visitors stopping by after work just as easily as groups of friends.

Signature Shirokoro Daikon Motsu Nikomi with Grated Cheese and Pepper

A prime starting point on the menu is the house specialty, Shirokoro Daikon Motsu Nikomi, a braised offal and daikon radish dish served with a unique twist. Finished with grated cheese and black pepper, the rich, savory broth infuses deep flavor into both the tender offal and the radish, making it an ideal companion to drinks. Variations such as an Italian-style preparation, spicy chives, or sea lettuce (aosa) allow diners to tailor the dish to their tastes.

Rich Torihaku Ramen for Lunch or the End of the Evening

Though Hinode is an izakaya, its torihaku (white chicken broth) ramen stands out with quality that rivals a dedicated noodle shop. Built on a full-bodied chicken base, the ramen comes in several distinctive styles, including aromatic aosa seaweed, punchy green chili pepper, and citrusy yuzu kosho. It works equally well as a hearty standalone meal during lunch or as a satisfying conclusion to an evening of drinking.

Distinctive Small Plates and Late-Night Drinks

The supporting menu offers a broad selection of small plates, ranging from refreshing bites like lightly pickled avocado and "chikon" to piping-hot fried dishes. Drink options span beer and highballs to fruity or yogurt-infused plum liqueurs, mug cocktails, and full bottles of shochu, catering to whatever pace the evening calls for. With late-night operating hours and payment accepted via credit card and PayPay, dropping in without watching the clock is straightforward.
